Darren Tilnak (M.Photog: P.I.P.P)

Known as the ‘Photographer’s Photographer’, Master Photographer, coach, author and judge. Darren's mission on every shoot is to give you the greatest time, whilst making you look better than you have ever looked. He guarantees the result. Even though he is recognised with national and international acclaim, it is his client that is the ultimate judge when it comes to the quality of the work and experience that you receive.

“I want each carefully crafted image to exude style, with motion and real emotion. It's important that we always capture the subjects' natural expressions. They say never work with children or animals, I have crafted my whole career around capturing them in black-and-white photography for over 35 years.”

Tracey Tilnak

Business Manager at Tilnak Fine Art

Tracey is the business manager at Tilnak Fine Art and pretty much takes care of everything when it comes to behind the scenes. Tracey takes care of all communication here at the studio including verbal – over the phone, email and also text confirmations etc. She's also in charge of sales where she invites you into our design room where she sits down with you over a coffee or wine and shows you your work and designs the perfect installation for your home.

Interviewed recently, the journalist asked Tracey “What is your capacity within the company and more-so what do you do exactly?” And very confidently Tracey answered "EVERYTHING”

Efi Sutton

Assistant Photographer at Tilnak Fine Art.

“I remember the excitement of starting my professional career as a self employed portrait Photographer, and celebrating the success of doing my first shoot!  I have also worked with other Photographers and enjoyed many aspects of the industry including extensive travel throughout Victoria, working with individuals, families, children, schools, and later event and studio photography.  Sadly, there was no more time to pursue the hobby.....that is, until 20 plus years later! With a passion for shooting nature, some of these with an abstract twist.  I’ve titled these images “Abstract by nature” and finally discovered instagram! I feel very blessed for the photo opportunities that have crossed my path and I’m excited to see what’s next.”

Clare Sullivan

Fine Art Enhancement and Digital Retoucher

From the very first time I watched a print reveal itself in a darkroom developing tray I was hooked. The combination of science and art bound together in photography creates something magical. I completed my Bachelors in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the arts in 2004 and was one of the last classes to be trained in the old analogue printing methods as well as in the emerging digital processes.

Post University I have been fortunate enough to work in photographic labs where my continuing interest in digital processing and retouching was fostered. I have been working with Tilnak Fine art since 2012 as their head retoucher, I enjoy immensely the work I do for them and feel privileged to be able to contribute to some enduring art in world of disposable imagery.

The business has been running since 1975 offering a personalised service to frame all works of art. In 1992 they relocated to their current location in Hawthorn.

Alex and Diva have both undertaken professional qualifications in picture framing with top marks. Diva was one of the first female apprentice picture framers to graduate, and went on to be nominated for apprentice of the year.

"They say that quality is remembered well after the price is forgotten", and it is easy to pass out compliments at the time of purchase or when a service has been completed. But to wait for some time after all the hype of the moment has passed, pause and look back and ask yourself – “would I do that again” – if the answer is a resounding yes then you know you have bought a quality service or product! I have purposely waited some time before writing this note to you, and the above is certainly true. The whole experience that you, Tracey led my family through was nothing short of exceptional. The service that the team at Tilnak -Lifestyle Portraits provides must be in the top 10% of any other service related business. Attention to detail, doing what you say, setting an expectation and then going above and beyond, was our constant experience. So that is the service, now the product. I guess the best way to judge the quality of a product is by what others say – unsolicited comments – and we have had plenty. Everybody who comes to our home or my office comments on the work: “stunning”, “fantastic”, “really well done”, “what a great idea to get away from the standard family portraits”, to name a few commonly heard phrases.
